About Us

It all began in 1976 when a small steel fabrication business started by Wolfgang Schroeter began manufacturing steel railings in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. At that time, no one imagined the incredible future that lay ahead for Wolf Steel Ltd. And eventually …. Continental® Furnaces.

Since the first woodstove rolled off the production line in 1979, Wolf Steel’s commitment to success was to be distinctive and successful in everything they do. The original stove featured a solid cast iron two-door design and was produced in a one thousand square foot manufacturing facility. In 1981, the first single glass door  wood stove was introduced, a first in the industry, using Pyroceram high temperature ceramic glass and a cast iron frame. The first of many milestones for Wolf Steel. Over the next few years, the demand for quality wood stoves grew beyond Ontario’s borders, and representatives throughout Canada and the United States were appointed to facilitate sales.

Wolf Steel works with its customers designing and implementing features sought after by discriminating consumers around the globe. Time after time, Wolf Steel has led the way with new and innovative patented technology . . . exclusive PHAZER® logs, luxurious gourmet grills and some of North Americas most advanced state-of-the-art fireplace technology. Innovative engineering and design, advanced manufacturing techniques, dedicated customer service, outstanding product quality, and superior warranties distinguish Continental from its competitors.

Now an ISO 9001-2008 registered company operating with 750,000+ square feet of manufacturing space, and over 500 employees, Wolf Steel is North Americas largest privately owned manufacturer of wood and gas fireplaces, free standing stoves, inserts, and quality grills.

Wolf Steel commitment of producing quality products combined with honest, reliable service has proven to be a successful theory in ensuring the continued rapid growth of the company.
